I have never owned/played before so I don't have any first hand knowledge about the sound quality of the guitar. However, what I can say is that I took the guitar into a musical instrument store who gave it a once over. They advised that it was a great sounding guitar before they noticed that it was an acoustic electric. After that they thought it was a really great deal. They advised me that the "action" was way too high, about twice as high as it should be. I would say it was a solid 3/8in. gap near the base of the neck. I also had a guitar junkie friend of mine play it and check it out. He agreed with the music shop in the opinion that it was a great buy and sounded good for the price. Now for some information about the whole package: The guitar came well packaged with all its contents in a box from Fender. In the box came the pre strung guitar, guitar strap, case, 3 picks, DVD (haven't watched yet), battery... I am very pleasantly surprised, it sounds great, I love that it is an acoustic-electric and the built-in tuner worked great. It also comes with an external battery powered tuner, string pack, pick pack, cord and case, although the case really isn't very functional, it would be okay in a pinch or before you find a better one elsewhere. First of all I am very much impressed with the packaging. The guitars I ordered previously just came with amazon packing, but this had the solid fender packing and then the amazon packing too very impressed. There were guitar picks missing from the package the product description in amazon said they had guitar picks. Rest all were as said in the description. It also had an extra tuner apart from the one embedded on the guitar. The best part is they provided the batteries. About the G uitar I have been playing guitar for quiet couple of years,I wouldn't say this is a great professional guitar. But this is one of the best entry level guitar. The 2-tone finish is great.
